Homework

Please could the children research interesting facts all about India. The children can record their findings in sentences and we can shares these facts in class next week.

13.6.16

Please save the following date - Thursday 21st July from 2pm to 3pm for the Year 2 end of year celebration.

There will also be an afternoon Market Place for the Enterprise Project  so please be aware that you will be invited to the school hall at the end of the afternoon on Friday 15th July.

Go wild this summer!
Surrey Wildlife Trust are encouraging children and their families to get closer to nature and explore the great outdoors during the month of June (and beyond!)

Spelling
We are continuing to work on spelling and grammar in school. Please could the children explore the use of contractions e.g didn't, wouldn't, won't and she'll. The children should be able to spell them accurately and use them in a sentence.
Maths
As part of our problem solving activities it is very important that the children can quickly recall their number facts (12+4, 17-6) and multiplication facts (x2,x5 and x10). Please could the children continue to practise these regularly.

24.5.16

Half term Homework

The projects have already started to 'roll in' and they are looking fantastic. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of the projects after half term. The children can use the time they usually spend on homework to complete the projects.

Please could the children continue to learn high frequency/common exception words and also practice their handwriting.

17.5.16

Spelling

Manta Rays, Cuttlefish and Barracudas- compound words (two words that combine to make one word e.g football, rainbow). How many can the children find? The children can bring these into school and we can share them in class.

Archer Fish and Sharks- silent 'k' (knee, knock, knife, know, knew)

Maths

Please could the children solve the problems attached below.

Spelling

Manta Rays, Cuttlefish and Barracudas- revisit adding 'ed' to verbs (remember the rules and exceptions e.g jumped, danced, begged, ran)

Archer Fish and Sharks- revisit 'ea' (head, ready, bread, instead,breakfast)

Please could the children continue to learn the common exception words as they need to learn these words.

 

Maths

Please could the children practise doubling and halving. A sheet is attached below.

Spelling

The children won't be tested next week but please could they look at the following spellings...

Cuttlefish- revisiting plurals (adding es and s) and looking at compound words (football, playground, rainbow)

Sharks and Archer Fish - compound words (football, playground, farmyard, bedroom, blackberry)

Barracudas and Manta Rays- comparative words (big, bigger, biggest) and revisiting plurals (adding s and es)

Please could the children continue to learn the common exception words as they need to learn these words.

 

Maths

Please could the children practise their 2,5,10 times tables. The children need to be able to recall these facts quickly and in any order. This will help the children with their multiplication/division and problem solving.

 

26.4.16 

Spelling

The children won't be tested next week but please could they look at the following spellings...

Cuttlefish- present tense (adding the suffix 'ing' to words)

Sharks and Archer Fish - days of the week (staring with a capital letter) 

Barracudas and Manta Rays- adding the prefixes  'un', 'in', 'im and 'dis' to words

Please could the children continue to learn the common exception words as they need to learn these words.

Maths

We have been revising addition and subtraction. The children are very good at using place value and pictures to help them when the sums get tricky. Please work through the sums below.

We have talked a lot about the inverse in class. The children could also have a go at checking their sums through using the inverse.
