Book of the week

October was Black History Month and at school the children enjoyed books in every class that explore this topic in a variety of ways. Tying in perfectly, this week's book recommendation by Floella Benjamin is 'Coming to England'. It is the inspiring story of Floella's own journey when, as a ten-year-old, she and her siblings came from Trinidad to England to be reunited with the rest of their family here. Brought to life by Diane Ewen's fabulous illustrations it tells the tale of the difficulties Floella faced and also the amazing things she achieved, from being a familiar face on children's TV to a Baroness in the House of Lords.
