Summer Reading Challenge 2026

The Summer Reading Challenge is back, giving children a fun way to enjoy books and keep reading over the summer holidays. This year’s theme is Read to the Beat, celebrating the connection between stories, music and sound.

Children can sign up for free at their local library or online at:

Library membership is free, and there are lots of reading formats to choose from, including stories, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels, eBooks and audiobooks. Children can work towards six reading goals or read six books, earning rewards along the way. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a certificate and a colourful wristband.

The challenge runs until 12th September, so there is plenty of time to get involved and Read to the Beat!
