Admissions

Admissions are processed a term in advance, new intakes occur in January, April and September.

Applications for September will close on the last day of school in May, applicants will be contacted in June.

Applications for January will close on the last day of school in November, applicants will be contacted in December.

Applications for April will close on the last day of February, applicants will be contacted in March.

Age range

The nursery will accept 2, 3 and 4-year-olds (depending upon their birth date).

If places are available, a child can be admitted into the Nursery two terms after their 2nd (second) birthday and one term after their 3rd (third) birthday.

Funding

The nursery will accept Funded Early Education for two-year old (FEET) and early years funded entitlement for 2 year old working parents to a maximum of 15 hours.  We also accept funded Early Education for three and four year olds to a maximum of 15 hours or 30 hours depending on eligibility, 38 weeks per year.

At this stage, we will not be accepting fee-paying places until we have prioritised children entitled to state-funded education.  This is subject to review.

3 & 4-year-olds

Currently, all 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of free early education a week for up to 38 weeks a year. This is known as the universal entitlement. Further information is available on Surrey's Family Information Service website.

Since September 2017 the government has also increased the number of free funded hours for 3 and 4-year-olds from 15 to 30 hours a week for working families who meet the eligibility criteria. This is known as the extended entitlement.

Further information on 30 hours funded provision, the eligibility criteria and how to apply can be found on Surrey’s Childcare Choices website: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

If you are eligible for 30 hours of free funded early education you will receive an eligibility code which you should provide us with when you apply for a nursery place for your child – see Nursery Admissions section.

Ensuring your ongoing eligibility for 30 hours of free funded early education for 3 & 4-year-olds

Approximately every 3 months you will need to reconfirm that you are still eligible for 30 hours of free funded early education. If you do not reconfirm your eligibility, Crawley Ridge Nursery and the Local Authority will be told that you no longer meet the requirements for a free 30-hour nursery place for your child resulting in government funding for your child’s place being reduced to the 15 hours of universal entitlement.

Parents will be expected to notify HM Revenue and Customs of any change in circumstances that may affect their eligibility.

To reconfirm your eligibility for 30 hours of free funded early education visit the government’s Childcare Choices website.

2-year-olds - FEET Funding

Free Early Education for 2-year-olds (FEET) offers eligible families 15 hours of free early education a week for 38 weeks a year.

For more information about FEET, to find out if you are eligible and to apply for FEET funding, visit https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-2-year-olds

If you are eligible you will receive a FEET application number which you should provide us with when you apply for a nursery place for your child – see Nursery Admissions section.

Prior to the offer of a nursery place being made you will be asked to provide a copy of the letter confirming your child’s FEET funding eligibility as they will not be able to access a 2 year old place without this.

2-year-olds - Working parents entitlement

From April 2024 early education and childcare for working parents is being extended to support more families.

Please see below a list of items that your child will need for their day at Nursery:

  • A spare set of clothes and underwear which will remain at the Nursery
  • Dark shoes with velcro fastenings or similar – no laces
  • Easy to dress clothes such as jogging bottoms (no zip or button fastenings)
  • Yellow Crawley Ridge Polo top and Brown jumper
  • Suitable coat for all weathers
  • Wellies which will remain in school
  • Sun hat and sun cream (to be applied at home on hot days)

Please remember, all clothing is to be practical for young children. Clothing which is easy to pull on and off in the case of accidents or after wet play.  This helps towards their independence.

Lunch

When your child is attending for a full day you will need to provide them with a healthy packed lunch, which they will all enjoy together.

As lunch is 11:30 - 12:00, children attending Wednesday morning will require a packed lunch to eat at nursery.  Children arriving Wednesday afternoon must arrive to nursery having had lunch.  A small snack of a piece of fruit and a drink of milk will be provided in the afternoons.

We are a nut free school including chocolate spreads that contain nuts. No fizzy drinks. Lunches will be stored in a fridge before they are consumed. More information regarding a healthy packed lunch can be found via the website below:
